Blue Devil Productions
The Performing Arts Program at Central High School otherwise referred to as Blue Devil Productions,’ goal is to produce shows and opportunities that reach out to the unique talents of all students wanting to experience a theatrical performance. It is our mission to create and produce meaningful shows. There are at least one musical production and main stage play. The Drama Club, which produces a few of its own shows, and Thespian Charter (a.k.a. The Rhinocorns) are also part of Blue Devil Productions.

Theatre Classes
Theatre Fundamentals I
Fundamentals of Theatre (Theatre I) is a one term course which covers the foundations and development of theatre. We start with the origins of theatre, cover different historical periods’ approach to theatre, and finally, we will expose students to different styles of theatre which have grown out of theatre’s rich history. Students will demonstrate their understanding of theatre through presentations and performances.
Theatre II- Advanced
Designed for students who have taken Theatre I or who have already demonstrated interest and commitment to studying and performing live theatre. Here students extend their knowledge of the theatre by performing in a variety of acting styles. Students gain experience in voice techniques and dialects. Class scenes or a one-act play may lead to a public performance. An overview of technical theatre may be included. This class may build and paint the set for the play or musical. Students may gain experience in lights, sound, makeup and directing. Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Theatre
Technical Theatre I and II
Stagecraft is for students interested in extending their knowledge in the technical areas of theatre. Students get hands-on experience in set construction/painting techniques, stage lighting, production staffs, make-up, sound, properties, and directing in a project-based format. Learning will be focused on problem-solving and creative analysis of theatre-related projects, topics, and tasks. Tech I - Students will learn about theatrical production components, script/show research, and theatrical design and construction techniques through hands-on learning experiences. Tech II - Using knowledge from Tech I and involvement in school productions, students. will work on a production team, creating and executing usable designs for a school production.sound, properties and directing.
Drama Characters and Styles
Drama Characters and Styles is a one term course which covers main aspects in how you use your body on stage. It covers different elements which enhance the way an actor performs. It is a project based class where students learn from performance and observation.
